Support ✨

01 // Why this page exists

Support the work, get the zine 💪

Supporting this site pays for my time, paper, postage, and the room to keep making things. In return, I send you a zine four times a year.

I will always keep my blog and podcasts free. SSRZ and the subscription is how people who want to help can keep the whole operation going.

My creative work sits in that awkward space, too big for a hobby, too small for a full-time job, but your support bridges that gap. It keeps the practice viable between jobs, and means less time chasing freelance gigs and engagement metrics.

Pay monthly or yearly; the zine ships quarterly. No spam, no extra email, cancel any time.

Hi 👋 I’m Jay. I write, I podcast, and I make small printed things. More about me.

02 // What your support pays for

More Ideas, Explored 🔊

Whether it’s writing on the blog, making Permanently Moved, or recording Experience.Computer, this is the work I’d be doing regardless.

Support means I can do it without one eye permanently on the invoice.

Real Things, Mailed ✉️

Every supporter gets a zine in the post four times a year. A tangible artefact, hand finished and stamped at my kitchen table.

A deliberate break from the algorithmic churn — something that arrives, and then stays.

No ads · No sponsors

No Ads. No Sponsors. 🛡️

No advertising, no sponsor reads, no chasing engagement metrics. Nothing here is optimised for a feed.

Just direct support for work that stays independent, slow, and slightly strange.

03 // Pick a tier

Two ways to back the work 👏

Both tiers get you every issue of the zine as it lands. The yearly patron option is simply for people who want to back the work a little harder.

04 // What lands on your doormat

The thank-you is not a badge or a Discord role. It is a physical object, printed and posted, four times a year.

Printed, folded, stamped, wrapped and posted by me.

Print zine · Quarterly · Since 2019

Start Select Reset 📑

Each issue is the print companion to a Permanently Moved episode: around 36 pages of liner notes.

A big chunk of the script, plus an introduction, an afterword, and the extras that never make it into the recording. Essays, marginalia, and the occasional game.

Fifteen issues since 2019. Print runs are small and back issues sell out — supporters are the only people who reliably get each one as it lands.

Posted worldwide as a printed booklet, with full customs declarations.

05 // What comes next

Between 2018 and 2025 I made short audio essays every week, each one exactly 301 seconds long for 301 episodes. That creative project finished. What I’m doing now is slower, deeper, and more expensive to make.

2026 onwards · The audio

Longer, Fewer, Better

Think of it as liner notes for radio: long-form audio paired with a physical companion.

  • 40–70 minutes an episode, roughly a 6,000–20,000 word essay
  • I hope to explore richer sound design and higher production quality
  • Released a few times a year, when they’re ready

2026 onwards · The object

Every Release Has A Companion

  • A properly printed zine: nice card, staples, decent paper stock
  • Expanded scripts, interviews, design elements, and extras
  • A small number of back issues as part of each print run
  • Occasional subscriber-only releases, still in the folded format

Supporters get everything.

06 // Thank you

What your support actually means 👏

  • A sustainable practice that doesn’t chase algorithms
  • Ambitious creative artefacts in audio, print and more
  • Media that’s independent, slow, and slightly strange

Support helps with the time, paper, and postage. In return, I send you a zine.

If you’ve ever listened to an episode, read a post, or held one of my zines in your hands: thank you.
